Our Mission
Founder: Irene Choi
Our mission is to honor, preserve, and promote the rich heritage of Korean traditional dance. These dances are more than just performances; they are living expressions of Korea’s history, identity, and cultural artistry. By educating and engaging audiences worldwide, we strive to keep these traditions alive for future generations.
What We Aim to Achieve
Preservation & Documentation
We are dedicated to researching, documenting, and archiving the techniques, history, and significance of traditional Korean dances, starting with Samgomu (삼고무춤) and Jindo Bukchum (진도북춤).
Education & Awareness
Through detailed explanations, visual resources, and step-by-step breakdowns, we aim to educate both dancers and enthusiasts about the meaning and artistry behind these traditional performances.
Cultural Appreciation & Promotion
By sharing the beauty of Samgomu and Jindo Bukchum, we seek to connect people with Korean cultural heritage and inspire appreciation for these dance forms globally.
Community Engagement
We encourage discussions, collaborations, and participation in workshops to foster a sense of community among those passionate about traditional Korean dance.
Through this platform, we hope to create a lasting impact by ensuring that the rhythms, movements, and stories of Korean dance continue to resonate with audiences worldwide.
Our Focus: Samgomu (삼고무춤) & Jindo Bukchum (진도북춤)
For now, our journey begins with two of Korea’s most captivating drum dances: Samgomu (Three-Drum Dance) and Jindo Bukchum (Jindo Drum Dance). Both performances showcase rhythmic precision, dynamic movement, and deep cultural heritage.
Jindo-Buk Chum & Samgomu Preservation
I have practiced and performed the Korean traditional dances Jindo-Buk Chum, originating from Jindo in the 1980s, and Samgomu, rooted in Buddhist drum dances from the 1940s, since the age of three. Trained under Byungchun Park, a professor at the Jindo-Buk Chum Preservation Association, I became one of only four certified Jindo-Buk Chum instructors worldwide. With over 100 performances across Japan and Korea, I have gained extensive stage experience. I also organized and performed at the Cultural Heritage Park event, fostering cross-cultural exchange and engaging diverse audiences through dance.
